A Juvenile lodge to explore – Mahua Kothi

Mahua Kothi is a joint venture between Taj hotels and CC Africa, one of the largest and the most respected Safari operators in Africa. This is the first in the series of five safari lodges that they plan to open in India. While the lodge is extremely luxurious but the main attractions is offcourse its Safari.

Nestled amidst the dense Sal forests, the lodge derives its name from the famous tree species Madhuca Indica. Formerly the known as the Charhat Kothi, encompasses around 12 charming suites or Kutiyas. These Kitiyas ( huts) gives a prolific experience of mud houses. Yes, here you would not find concrete floors but mud levelled floor. In vernacular style architecture, each one of them is easly accessed by the swings, traditional mud floors and shaded seatings.

Wooden shutters, tapered mud coloured walls (finished by hand) in lime and earth washes, open rafters with roughly hewn wooden beams, handmade pottery roof tiles all create a perfect natural milieu. A person who wants to understand the simplest way of Indian living must experience Mahua Kutiya.

Everything here is unlike the perfect yet so synchronized. For those who have exprience the luxuries of deluxe hotels, this could be a welcome change. As here they would not find anything luxurious but would feel the nature and would come close to sanity.
