Khajuraho Temple in Madhya Pradesh



Ethereal, enticing and enchanting, Khajuraho instantly flashes erotic images of sculptures involved in the most fascinating aspect of life - Love Making. These sculptures depicts the society that celebrates life and was not ashamed of sex. Located in Madhya Pradesh, Khajuraho temples are the most captivating sight of India and spans over an area of 21 sq km. Built in 10th -11th century, these temples represented the architectural style of Chandella rulers.

With in the complex the temples are divided into three groups - Western, Eastern and Southern, with the western group being accredited as the World Heritage Site. The Western group is certainly the best known, because it is to this group that the largest and most typical Khajuraho temple. The Archeological museum showcases sculptures and stone panels of ruined temples in the Jain, Buddhist and other galleries. Getting There
Air There are regular flights linking Khajuraho with Delhi (35 minutes), Agra(40 minutes), and Varanasi(45 minutes).
Rail There is no direct train to Khajuraho. The most convenient station is Jhansi(175km), which is linked to Delhi and other major northern cities. Satna(117km) is another convenient railway head for those coming from Mumbai, Calcutta and Varanasi.
Road Khajuraho is connected by regular buses with Satna, Harpalpur(94km), Jhansi and Mahoba(61km).
