Gauri Shankar Temple
Situated in the Old Delhi, the temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It houses an approximately 800 year old brown Lingam, made of phallus stone. The Lingam is encircled by snakes and represents a “cosmic pillar, the centre of the universe, the life itself. Bejeweled statues of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva, standing beneath the silver canopy are placed inside the main shrine.




Chattarpur Mandir
Chattarpur Mandir is situated in the Mehrauli area of Delhi. It is built in both the South Indian as well as North Indian style of architecture. Goddess Durga is the presiding deity in the temple, accompanied with other shrines of Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha. The most interesting festival celebrated here is Durung Navaratri.

Kalkaji Temple
A twelve sided structure, Kalkaji Mandir is situated beyond the commercial complex of Nehru Place in South Delhi. The temple is devoted to Goddess Kalka Devi, a reincarnation of Goddess Durga. The idol is bathed with milk in the morning and aarti is held in the evening. People worship by singing hymns and songs in the praise of goddess. The devotees flock in a large number during the period of Navratras and attend a fair held at the temple.



Birla Mandir
Birla Mandir also known as Lakshmi-Narayan Mandir was built by the industrial family of Birla in the year 1938. It is situated to the west of Connaught Place in Delhi. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and his consort Goddess Lakshmi. The small shrines are dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman and Goddess Durga. Famous festival celebrated in Mandir is Janmashtmi.

Lotus Temple
Lotus temple is situated 12 km southeast of Connaught place. The monument is designed like a half-opened lotus flower made up of white marble and facilitates the Bahai's faith of worship. The Bahai's faith encourages the spirit of oneness of all religions and mankind. They lay great emphasis on meditation.



Iskcon Temple
Iskcon Temple is located at Raja Dhirshain Marg, Sant Nagar near the East of Kailash Locality. The temple hold great reverence for the devotees of Lord Krishna. The fine looking paintings of Radha-Krishna, Sita-Ram, Laxman, Hanuman and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu made by Russian artist are presented in the central hall. The most interesting attraction of the temple is the museum which organizes multimedia shows on the story of the epics Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Akshardham Temple
Akshardham Temple is one of the most recently built temple, constructed by the Bochasanvasi Aksharpurushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). The beautiful Mandir consist of 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 quadrangled shikhars, floral motis, arches, a spectacular Gajendra Pith and 20,000 statues of India's great sadhus, devotees, acharyas and divine persona. IMAX threatre, a Swaminarayan temple and musical fountains are the other attractions of the temple.

Famous Hindu Temples of India

Birla Mandir – It is one of the famous Hindu temple dedicated to Laxmi and Narayana. It was inaugurated by Mahatama Gandhi in 1938. The temple was built by Mr. B.D. Birla of Birla Group, one of the famous buisness group of India.

Guruvayoor Temple – It is located in Thriussar district of Kerala, and its presiding diety is Lord Krishna.It is said that the idol in the temple was worshipped by Lord Brahma himself at the holy city of Dwarka. The temples is known to have healing powers and a devotee would be able to find mental peace and tranquality upon visiting this lovely dome.

Sabrimala Temple – Located on the Sahyadri ranges in Western Ghats, it is one of the important shrine of India. It is one of the important hindu temples of India . The Sabarimala Temple festival is celebrated in honour of Lord Ayyapan who is revered by all in India.

Sun Temple –
It is culmination of Orissan temple architecture and is a famous World Heritage Sites in 1984 of India. The sun temple is dedicated to the Sun God. It is one of the most popular destination in Orissa.

Tirupati Balaji Temple – This is one of the richest temple in the world. It is one of the major pilgrimage sites of India. An estimated 30,000 devotees visit Balaji Temple every year.

Omkareshwar Temple – It is one of the 12 revered Jyotirlinga shrines of Shiva. It is located 12 miles from Mortakka in Madhya Pradesh. Shaped like the holiest of all Hindu symbols, 'Om', Omkareshwar Temple draws attention of travellers from all across the world.

Vaishno Devi – Situated at a height of 5, 300 ft, It is one of the most visited pilgrimage site of India. This holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi and is situated in hill top.

Thousand Pillar Temple –Located about 10 km away from the Warangal city of Andhra Pradesh, Thousand Pillar Temple is constructed by the Kakatiya ruler, Rudradeva
