JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK

Located in the scenic splendour of the foothills of the Himalayas, Corbett National Park has a glorious past replete with the hunting trails of Jim Corbett, the saviour. In 1936, this wildlife reserve was given the status of a National park, the first of its kind in India. Project Tiger was inaugurated here on April 1, 1973 as a mission to protect the fast dwindling Indian Tiger.


Wild attractions:

Corbett is the abode of the Indian Tiger. Together with these predators exists their favourite hunt-- four varieties of deer and the wild boar. Besides, the park is also home to a variety of feline creatures like the leopard cat, jungle cat and the fishing cat. Higher up the hills one comes across the Himalayan black bear while the lower regions are occupied by the sloth bear. Jackals and wild dogs are found in the southern regions of the park.


Corbett wildlife safari: Jeep safari is the most convenient way to explore this legion of the wild. It can availed from Ramnagar, KMVN Tourist lodge and other travel agents. Elephant rides in the deep forests inside this coveted home of the Tigers can be an ecstatic experience.

How to Reach?

The nearest airport is Pantnagar, 80 kms away. Direct trains are available from Delhi- Delhi-Moradabad and Moradabad-Ramnagar. Besides, a frequent bus service connects Ramnagar with Nainital and Ranikhet-112 kms away.
