The 89 national parks and approx 440 wildlife sanctuaries are home to thousands of faunal and floral species. Many of them, such as Tigers, Asian Elephants, Wild Ass, One horned Rhinoceros, Wild Buffalo, Asiatic Lion and Wild Buffalo constitute the wildlife splendour of India as they are found no where else or very less in number in other region of the world.
Corbett National Park, Ranthambore National Park, Periyar Tiger Reserve, Bharatpur National Park, Gir National Park, Kanha National Park, Kaziranga National Park, Sariska Tiger Reserve, Nagarhole National Park, Sundarbans Tiger Reserve, Bandhavgarh National Park and Bandipur National Park are to name some of the national parks in India that are clubbed with world class wildlife parks. No matter which region of the country, one is travelling, the wildlife parks in India are pervaded in every region.
Corbett National Park and Tiger Reserve
Lying in the foothills of Kumaon Himalayas, Corbett is bejeweled with vast wildlife richness. Established in 1936, this park was first to designated as Project Tiger Reserve (in 1973). Corbett having approx 50 Tigers is one of the most famous Tiger reserves in the world. Other wild animals which can be found here are Leopard, Wild Cat, Porcupine, Jackal, Sloth Bear, Black Bear, Wild Boar and Elephants.more
Ranthambore National Park
Situated at Eastern edge of Thar desert, Ranthambore National Park spreads across 1300 Sq Km. Being once the hunting ground of royal families of Rajasthan in bygone days, this park has turned now in one of the best den of Royal Bengal Tiger. The biggest attraction of Ranthambore is its friendly Tigers, which draws wildlife photographers from all over the world. Bharatpur National Park and Bird Sanctuary
One of the most popular among all bird sanctuaries in the world, Bharatpur National Park and Bird Sanctuary is among the world heritage sites. House to more than 350 species of birds, this national park provides the best possible breeding climate and place to domestic birds as well as migratory birds coming from outshores like Siberia, Europe, Bhutan, China and Afghanisthan. Birds that are common to this park are Stork, several species of Cormorants, Egrets, Pelicans, Ibises, Cranes, Ducks and Geese.More
Kaziranga National Park
The park, stretches over 430 Sq Km, lies in the south bank of Brahmaputra in Assam, North-East region of India. This park holds the esteemed position among all national park in the country due to housing Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros. Found no where else in the world, Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros are found in abundance here. Besides, Kaziranga is home also to Elephants, Sloth Bears, Tigers, Leopard Cats, Jungle Cats, Hog Badgers, Capped Langurs, Hoolock Gibbons, Pigs, Jackals, Porcupines, Pythons, Wild Buffaloes, Indian Bison, Swamp Deer, Sambhars and Hog Deer, and hundreds of species of birds.
Periyar Tiger Reserve and National Park
Periyar Tiger Reserve is the best place to view Tigers in South India as Tiger’s population waver here around 40. Though this park is termed as Tiger reserve, yet one can even watch heaps of Elephants (more than 700 in numbers) tramping in the forest. Wild animals that one can spot here include Nilgiri langoor, Nilgiri Tahr, Bison, Deer, and Antelope. The best moments of touring this park are formed by taking a boat cruise in the Periyar lake, which gives the best possible view of its wildlife.
Gir National Park
Declared as national park in 1965, Gir National Park spreads across 1410 Sq km of scrub and grassland and dry deciduous forests. This protected area is world famous for its Asiatic Lions that are found nowhere else. Besides its approx 300 Asiatic Lions, Gir is house to many species of wild animals like Antelope, Deer, Leopards, Hyenas, Crocodiles and Jackals, and also few hundreds of species of birds.
